In an age of fast fashion and convenience over quality, the importance of experiencing the finer things in life can often be overlooked in exchange for fleeting thrills.

For those willing to dig a little deeper however, a sensory experience birthed from prestigious and perfected craftsmanship awaits. Welcome to the world of Loch Lomond whisky.

Proudly holding the title as globe’s finest whisky distillery, their history is steeped in the six Celtic clans that touched Loch Lomond. Clans embodied unity and strength, a spirit of togetherness and friendship; the spirit of kinship reflected in the range.

Enjoyed on the rocks or neat, solo after a long day in the office or with your circle out on the town, Loch Lomond brings that illustrious touch of sophistication to your moments of relaxation and celebration.

Creating the finest single malt and single grain whisky from the picturesque shores of the most famous of all Scotland’s lochs since 1814, the fierce pride and passion of the Loch Lomond family to create liquid perfection is evident in every drop of their world-class malts.

And now it’s your turn to experience the unique magic for yourself, Australia; a milestone development that Chief Executive Officer Colin Matthews is thrilled to announce:

“The Glen Scotia and Loch Lomond ranges are a true appreciation of how whisky is developed with authentic Scottish craftsmanship and a dose of innovation. Our master blender, Michael Henry, artfully balances the flavours of each barrel and gives each whisky its own personality.

“Thanks to the help of Vintage Cellars, First Choice and Liquorland, we are excited to show Australians the uniqueness of our range and how the Scots enjoy a proper whisky,” says Colin.

My advice? The next time you raise a glass in honour of celebration, relaxation and all the moments in between; look no further than Loch Lomond.

I don’t know about you but I get pretty turned on by innovative tech.

Admittedly I don’t have much knowledge when it comes to the digital specifications (cut to an IT guru mentioning RAM capabilities and my mind immediately picturing that sheep talking about home loans), but when it comes technology that champions creativity, flexibility and seamless user experience, I’m a self-confessed addict of the latest and greatest.

Combining my fulltime hustle as the director of Huddle Group with my passion-project editorial work means I am always on my laptop. Seriously. It goes to HQ with me in the morning, attends numerous meetings throughout the day, edits fashion photos in the evening and stays up late drinking French rose and listening to me bitch about my ex until the early hours.

It’s safe to say most of you share similar experiences on the daily; professional and personal pursuits weaving into a constant screen stream of connectivity.

But to get to the top of your game (and stay there), you need best digital hardware available. State-of-the-art software, instant portability, tenacious power, versatile functionality and stylish design are the key elements required for you to stay ahead of the pack in any industry, from finance to fashion design.

Enter the new Asus Zenbook Flip S.

The world’s thinnest convertible laptop, the Zenbook Flip S effortlessly transforms into a touch screen tablet with a digital stylus pen, opening up a whole new world of creative capabilities.

It's portable, light and slim design is somewhat deceptive, internally housing incredible durability and power as a result of being created with the latest, highest performing components on the planet.

The miraculous lovechild of engineering and art, the Zenbook Flip S boasts the best size, functionality, flexibility and performance in the business…all while looking stylish as hell.

Welcome to your new laptop lust-have.

FIT FEATURE | Introducing Blake Worrall-Thompson

LifestyleSimon HancockComment

Need to lose that winter weight ahead of the all-important spring and summer #beachbody seasons? We've got the answer. Meet  TV personality, personal trainer and author Blake Worrall-Thompson; one of the most sought after health and fitness experts in the country.

Blake has owned and operated a number of personal training and bootcamp businesses, has been involved with the management team of Australia’s largest gym chain and now divides his time between his latest #6w2s creations; Six Weeks To Shredded for the boys and Six Weeks To Sexy for the girls. All of this in addition to his blog ‘Wellbeing By Blake’ and inspiring others to live out best life through his speaking and writing engagements.

Busy boy.

Blake's innovative and results based training methods have seen him work with and transform the bodies of celebrities such as Lauren Brant, Lara Bingle, Sally Obermeder, Maude Garrett, Carissa Walford and Natalie Bassingthwaighte.

Q. Blake, you’re already on your way to building a fitness empire through your multiple training/diet programs and Well Being By Blake online fitness forums. When did your obsession with all things fit really kick in?
A. As early as I can remember. I was always into sport and being active (I think it was mums only way of curbing my ADD) and after I missed out on playing A.F.L, which was always my dream, I turned to personal training almost straight away.

Q. 6 Weeks 2 Shredded is all about men achieving mental and physical goals they previously thought unreachable. Tell us what’s so special about this particular training program.
A. Mate I think there are a number of things.
- Firstly the bromance of it. For a lot of blokes they miss that camaraderie that comes with social sport.
- Also I think the time frame is realistic for a number of people – 6 weeks is enough to get serious results but not too long where you freak out about the commitment. You’ve also got a high standard of training. When I first started 6w2s the shredded program was a pretty lazy bunch in comparison to the girls – but we may a number of changes, got some fit guys in to lead by example and now it is a super impressive bunch of guys.

- Finally I think it also comes to results. If you’re not getting results you wont hang around.

Q. 6 Weeks 2 Sexy focuses on building fitness and confidence levels of women, no matter their shape or size. What’s one piece of motivational training advice you can offer our female readers
A. Get started. Every day I have conversations with girls (and guys) about what they cant do and why they cant do it and they have actually bought into their own story and start believing it. Yes, it can be hard to get started – creating any new habit is, but stick with it – and maybe even drag a training partner into it to make life easier and more accountable for you.

Q. We’ve all heard the saying ‘Abs Are Made In The Kitchen’. Exactly how important is diet when combined with a rigorous training program?
A. The truth is ‘you cant outrun a bad diet’ – with that in mind, extremely important. Everyone has their own special formula but my belief is that the ultimate bod is made up of 3 components 1) Nutrition which accounts for 70%  2) exercise which accounts for somewhere between 20-25% and 3) lifestyle factors such as sleep, stress, hormones which account for 5-10%

 Q. Summer bodies are made in winter. What’s one tip you can offer the guys out there to ensure they’re ready for speedo season?
A. Don’t wait. The average Australian will put on 3-5kgs over winter which can be very hard to budge come September/ October when the weather starts to improve. You’ve got 3 months between now and when you are likely to get the speedos out – that is exciting because it means you don’t have to do anything crazy – just a steady progression towards your target!

 Q. Final question – we know you’re a man that champions physical and mental health and loves a good inspirational quote. What’s your go-to mantra?
A. ‘Actions speak louder than words’ – just get on with it ;)

LUXE | Australian Launch of Chivas Regal Extra

LifestyleSimon Hancock

Last week in an exclusive world first, iconic whisky brand Chivas Regal celebrated the launch of Chivas Regal Extra with special guests, actor Chris Noth and Chivas Regal Master Blender, Colin Scott. Australia is the first country in the world to launch the newest member of the Chivas Regal family…

Nothing says luxe like a world premiere.

The decadent evening was held in a private mansion in Darling Point overlooking iconic Sydney Harbour. Upon arrival we were welcomed with carefully created canapés, designed by famed-Surry Hills restaurant, 4Fourteen.

We were then invited to a dedicated tasting session with Chivas Regal Master Blender, Colin Scott. It was at the end of the whisky tasting when guests were welcomed by the perfect host, Mr Chris Noth, who then proceeded to lead guests to the next level of the party: the mixology room.

Mr Big leading us around a private harbourside mansion while we sip tantalizing whisky cocktails? Just your standard Monday night really…

Each element of the event took place on a particular level of the stunning setting, concluding with an elegant banquet on the top floor. An ode to Chivas Regal Extra, taking Chivas style to a whole new level of rich and generous taste, perhaps?

Clever whiskey-making wizards.

THE SOCIAL CLUB presents The February Sail

LifestyleSimon Hancock

Let's face it - it's never easy to bid adieu to summer. As Australians we identify with summer on an almost spiritual level; we live for the the salty ocean, bronzed skin and balmy nights. But as Autumn approached we had the chance to farewell the warmer months with one last hurrah on Sydney Harbour...

The February Sail.

Presented by new events brandThe Social Club, the white-themed soiree took place on a luxury catamaran last Sunday 23rd February. Welcomed onto the yacht by swimsuit-clad models, guests enjoyed beverages from Oyster Bay Wines, Alacran Tequila, Royal Dragon Vodka and Boca Lupo Energy Drinks served aboard the impressive two-tier vessel.

Australian DJ talent including DEM FOXES, A-GAME and DJ THIEVES kept the crowd grooving past sunset as we toasted the final weekend of summer against the iconic backdrop of Sydney Harbour. Guests including Luke Jacobz, Casey Burgess, Demi Harman, Tyler Atkins, Tiffany Farrington, Rochelle Fox and Demelza Revely were seen enjoying bottle service, the dance floor and of course, the stunning harbour vista.

Due to the sudden passing of our dear friend Charlotte Dawson just 24 hours prior to the event, The Social Club decided to donate all proceeds from the event to headspace (Australian's National Youth Mental Health Foundation) in honour of this courageous, unforgettable woman.

Like The Social Club's Facebook page for full coverage from the day as well as the announcement of the Autumn event from The Social Club. It will be a truly unique experience all over again...

RIP, Mama C. My tribute to Charlotte Dawson.

LifestyleSimon Hancock

"Dolls, you are gorgeous. Come sit next to me and have a vino."

These were the first words Charlotte Dawson ever said to me. Charlotte played an adoptive-mother slash hilarious-older-sister role in the lives of two of my best girlfriends so I was lucky enough to be warmly welcomed into the fold from the very first day I met this brazen, passionate woman.

Her incredibly maternal relationship with these girls meant that from day one, Charlotte's walls didn't exist when I was around. I was simply accepted as family by association and in many ways, this sums up Charlotte perfectly. She was known to us as 'Mama C', living up to this nickname through her nurturing nature on a daily basis.

The first encounter. Charlotte and I at brunch with Simone Holtznagel.
The first encounter. Charlotte and I at brunch with Simone Holtznagel.

Simply - Charlotte lived to help people. Whether it be celebrating landmark occasions, fiercely defending those she loved when they were at risk of harm or offering advice over a drink on her Woolloomooloo terrace when you were unsure of which direction to go; Charlotte was always, always there for those she loved.

I'm not sure I can say she received the same treatment in return.

Within her industry Charlotte was both lauded and, at times, ridiculed. Her very public battle with depression and her bold, open approach to discussing this highly taboo subject was met with mixed response as it played out on the world stage. Yes, she had her demons and issues (as we all do) but the difference? She wasn't afraid to admit to them. She championed the cause for a light to be shone on the dark discussion of mental health and for online bullies/cyber-trolls to face the repercussions of their heinous online attacks. In an industry where a celebrity would sooner admit to a drug addiction than a mental health issue, Charlotte courageously went against the grain to make being 'not okay', okay.

Charlotte eventually lost the long battle with her demons and took her own life last Saturday the 22nd February.

But her death need not be in vain.

Supporters of this amazing woman have launched an online petition asking the Australian and state government enforce the existing anti-bullying and harassment laws and take action against those who violate them.  The petition also asks that Social Media companies take a more active role in the prevention of cyber bullying, and take more responsibility in monitoring posts of 'hate'. The petition asks that together we unite to change the cyber bullying platform.

This bill is aptly named Charlotte's Law.

Always the life of the party. Charlotte and I at en event in 2011.
Always the life of the party. Charlotte and I at en event in 2011.

I encourage you to sign this petition, share the link with everyone you know and potentially help make history in the process. Last week we lost a beautiful, vibrant and courageous soul. But perhaps, just maybe, the cost of this life can save hundreds of others in the future.

Charlotte, we will never forget you and I can only hope you are smiling down on us at this very moment knowing that you made a significant difference in this mixed up world. Your light faded too soon but shone brighter than most.

Rest In Peace.
