STYLE EDIT | The Myer Man

StyleSimon HancockComment

Traditionally men are often overlooked for our much lovelier female counterparts when it comes to fashion. Luckily we live in 2016, an age witnessing the resurgence of the gentleman and in turn, men’s style. Dudes, now is the time to get down and dapper.

Australia’s fashion powerhouse Myer are tipping their hats to the menswear movement with the recent launch of their new digital stream The Myer Man.

Essentially a visual diary and online destination featuring their growing range of men’s styles available in-store and online, think of The Myer Man as your new brotherhood, a community of dudes who like to look and feel good as they make their mark on the world.

I’ll drink to that *sips whiskey*

We recently shot our first style edit for The Myer Man, focusing on key streetwear looks from the likes of Scotch & Soda, Nana Judy, Superdry, Levis and more and we kid you not – we could have pulled 50 looks from the menswear selections available. From everyday basics to premium luxury labels, office style and street wear; Myer are working overtime to make sure the modern Australian man is rocking a sophisticated swag no matter what the occasion.

So check out our style edit below, get into Myer stat to see the ranges for yourselves and make sure you follow The Myer Man on Instagram
here to stay up to date with the boys.

That Summer Chill

Style, FashionSimon Hancock

Unusually cool December weather in Sydney (Mother Nature, you're on notice) has opened up a world of summer slash autumn style opportunities.

Taking trend-spiration from the oh-so-farshion hipster movement we're feeling dark and brown basics styled with unique patterns in navy and maroon. Hopefully our skin can catch up with these tan tones as soon as possible...

Die for Tie-Dye

Style, FashionSimon Hancock

Double down on your denim fun this summer with tie-dyed prints making a seriously stylish statement comeback. Try teaming vest and short combinations with bright colour basics and toughening up the finished look with a pair of Timberlands, Kanye style. 'Cause Yeezy taught me.

GET THE LOOK | Denim vest, shorts and shirt by GUESS, tee by Le Coq Sportif and boots by Timberland.

Shoreditch London x GQ Men Of The Year Awards

Style, FashionSimon Hancock

I was lucky enough to recently attend the GQ Australia Men Of The Year Awards, a national night of nights here in Australia - you can check out the red carpet coverage from the gun editorial team over at GQ here.

Attending the awards as a guest of Chivas Regal, I was also lucky enough to be dressed by high-end menswear label Shoreditch London for the night - and what a night it was.

A brand that preaches the 'relaxed tailoring' gospel of the new-age man, the signature style of Shoreditch London is built around the statement "Aristocrats dress like their fathers, East London breeds individual style”.

Amen gents. Amen.

Topman x Elle Style Awards

Style, FashionSimon Hancock

Clashing patterns, hues of blue, canvas, linens and leather brogues - all my style essentials are present throughout Topman's latest menswear range.

I recently attended the Elle Australia 2014 Style Awards with my beautiful friend Demi Harman on my arm and was also dressed in dapper Topman threads from head to toe for the occasion.

Seriously though, how lucky can one man get?

Big thanks to Topman Gowings and the personal shopping team at their flagship Sydney store for styling me for this momentous occasion...

Can you dress me every day? Seriously though.

Le Coq Sportif Spring/Summer '14

Style, FashionSimon Hancock

Le Coq Sportif has a long history in creating relaxed, chic fashion for both men and women. It all started in 1882 in France with the opening of a little hosiery store in Romilly-sur-Seine, in a part of the Champagne region called the Aube.

Over 100 years and countless seasons later, Le Coq Sportif has now opened shop right here in in Sydney. Number 79 George St, to be exact.

Oui Oui.

We've selected our top picks from the new Spring/Summer 2014 collection, a range beaming with light beige and stone tones, patterned nauticals and navy. As for footwear? Our stand-out favourite are their plush white leather loafers.

Tres magnifique.

Elle Australia 2014 Style Awards

Style, FashionSimon Hancock

Champagne towers, a vast underground cavern styled with crystal chandeliers and Australia’s most recognisable celebrities and media identities in attendance...if the Elle Australia 2014 Style Awards set out to surpass already-high expectations, they passed with flying colours.

Seriously though. Next level style.

Hosted in the breathtaking Paddington Reservoir Gardens, guests included Jean Paul Gaultier, Rachel Zoe and Zoe Kravitz (who performed with her band Lolawolf).

Talk about a fashion feast.

Our good friends Life Without Andy were there to capture it all, including the below snaps from their ‘Faces Of Elle’ series. Enjoy.

STYLE | Spring Has Sprung

Style, FashionSimon Hancock

Sweet jasmine scents in the air, afternoons streaked with dappled sunlight...Mother Nature has prepared the ultimate natural Spring palate, now it's up to you to style the season accordingly.

Embrace classic clean lines and neutrals; less is definitely more. Allow linen and cotton in shades of white, stone and beige to come together in refreshingly light ensembles that love the rays of sun as much as you do.

You may not own a boat...but you can definitely dress like you do.

STYLE | La Trench

Style, FashionSimon Hancock

Seeking chic a-la French? Simply add a trench.

One of the few iconic fashion pieces that casts no preference to gender, every guy and girl worth their style salt deserves at least one trench in their wardrobe. Go tailored to add an edge to even the most basic of ensembles...or a few sizes larger to Anna Wintour it over the shoulders.

Tres magnifique.
