People say you are what you eat. Today we say you are what you drink. Isn't it time to ditch the basic vodka sodas and try something new? Something luxurious? Something exotic?
Then it's time for you to experience China’s number 1 luxury liquor Wuliangye.
Wuliangye (WU = five, LIANG = grain, YE = liquor) is a decadent white spirit created from a blend of five organic ingredients; broomcorn, glutinous rice, rice, wheat and corn, delivering a unique aroma and taste.
Harmony and balance are paramount in Chinese culture and Wuliangye is hailed as the perfect balance between “heaven, earth and man” and “the perfect blend ad of efforts between man and nature”.
Talk about a majestic brand message.
The consistency of Wuliangye may hold a close resemblance to vodka but that’s where the similarities end. With an alcohol content of 52%, it is much more potent and features a sweet cotton candy offset with a savoury flavour are the initial notes, along with a hint of glutinous rice, tropical fruits and aniseed. Combined, this gives Wuliangye a dry finish which critics say denotes a “lasting aroma, mellow and luscious taste, harmonious and just-right flavours - a transcendent experience.”
The spirit was originally created during the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) using Yibin’s local spring, the purest water sourced from the Sichuan province.
To celebrate the brand’s growing presence in Australia we were honoured to attend the Annual Wuliangye Sydney Gala at The Star. VIP guests were treated to a black tie evening with cocktails and canapés on arrival, a three-course dinner interspersed with traditional and modern Chinese performances of opera, theatre and dance.
And it appears that the world agrees with China's devotional love for this shimmering spirit. To date Wuliangye liquor has been awarded 39 international gold prizes. Sure, at approximately $220 per 500ml bottle here in Australia it’s definitely targeted to those who enjoy a taste of the finer things in life...but at the end of the day isn’t that all of us?
Now all that's left to do is try Wuliangye for yourself. Shop the luxurious range here and enjoy!
